Celebrating faith, service and community

What a spectatular weekend!

How fabulous was it to be able to celebrate this historic moment in the life of our nation.

On Thursday we had a group of dedicated hardworking volunteers join us from ADP, a local company who came to help us as part of their companies community volunteering “community matters”. They heard we were looking for some help getting the churchyard tidied up ready for Saturday’s big Coronation celebration and they definitely fullfiled the brief – top job guys.

What a transformation – thank you Fharis, Holly, Lizzi, Sophia and Ginta!

On Friday morning ‘Coffee Break’ kicked off the weekend with a Coronation themed morning then on Friday evening a Service of Prayer and Thanksgiving offered the opportunity to reflect on our history, celebrate who we are and look to our future. It was a great start to what proved to be a super weekend filled with fun and friendship, family and friends, food and faith.

On Saturday morning the bells rang out – For hundreds of years church bells have rung out, to celebrate special occasions  so this the perfect opportunity for the bell ringers to come together to ‘Ring for the King’ as we prepared for the day ahead, celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III.

And what a fabulous day it was, no amount of rain was going to dampen the spirits – though the garden was a bit on the soggy side!

It was such a joy to welcome around 260 adults and children to St Peter’s for fun and games, burgers, music and enough cake to feed the 5000!

We had an enthusiastic swing ball championship, fabulous face painting, great kid’s crafts️, awesome live music and muddy football. Friends were found and memories were made. In years to come, we’ll all remember what we were doing on King Charles III‘s Coronation Day, May 6th 2023.

On Sunday morning we came together as Church, to worship with thankful hearts and of course to eat more cake!
