Support for Ukraine

The last few days has seen a remarkable response from the town of Chertsey to the appeal for a range of aid for Ukraine. By partnering with an organisation which has a close link with Ukranian military, we have manged to get aid to the front line. So far we have sent three loads. Further vans are taking aid to refugee camps in Poland. The Church has funded the fuel for return journeys of five vehicles taking aid from this town.
As Vicar of Chertsey, I am dismayed that the UK Government is putting paper and administration before people. Our government is failing the people of Ukraine. They require visas for refugees! The EU welcomes Refugees – full stop. They are in need. I encouarge the town of Chertsey to contact our Member of Parliament, Dr. Ben Spencer to express our (and his) dismay at the current state of affairs on behalf of his constituency. As of today, the government is failing. Words without content. As many refugees arrive in Calias for instance, only 9 refugees as of tonight, have been processed and are being sent back to our Paris embassy with a range of document. Every other EU country has an open door. Please write to Ben Spencer at the House of Commons or e mail: ben.spencer.mp@parliament.uk. Currrently our government is failing to show basic humanitarian concern.

Help with AV

We are still looking for people to assist us with AV during the week and also on Sundays;

On Sundays we are looking for a few people to help run EasyWorship (which is very straightforward) and if you have slightly stronger computer skills, we need one or two people to help run OBS Studio which we use for streaming (and operate the sound desk which is not difficult).

Weekday work would be only occasionally, to cover funerals and school services a few times a year. There be would be a fee payable for some of this work. Only basic tech is needed for these services, training can be given if required.

Children’s & Families Work

We need volunteers to help run our new Pop-In group for pre-school children with additional needs on Tuesday mornings and our Bumps & Babies group on Wednesday afternoons, 12-1.45pm. Annie would welcome your help. These groups are a valuable outreach to families within our community, this is something anyone can be involved with; all volunteers will be DBS checked.
